The Story of Monstera: Monstera deliciosa " is one of the largest taro vines that grows in Hawaii and has thick, heart-shaped leaves, as much as 2 to 3 feet long. Not only are Monstera beautiful and tropical, but the Monstera plant symbolizes long life and a way of honoring elders and respected people. In Feng Shui (a kind of Oriental acupuncture for your home), Monstera is used to bring happiness or to stimulate big dreams.
The Story of the Molokai Designer: Kapua U’i is a delicate style of jewellery handmade in Hawaii with a strong foundation and ties in Hawaiian culture. It is a brand that encompasses the deeper beauty in ourselves and the pieces she designs. The jewellery designer, Tammy Kapua U'i Dunnam, was born and raised on Molokai in the Hawaiian islands. From diving to collect shells and materials to hammering, wire bending, packaging and selling her jewellery it's apparent that this single mother has nurtured her business much like another child of her own. Tammy has kindly adapted some of her designs for Island Essence.
