Hawaiian Skincare: Healing Oils for Skin Used By Island Essence

Lavender oil

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is known to have many health benefits. Like lavender, it is also anti-inflammatory and is ideal for people with sensitive skin. Not only that, but it is also antibacterial to keep your skin clean. It also contains antioxidants which are anti-aging ingredients. Coconut oil even has wound-healing properties.  Even better, Coconut oil can also be easily absorbed into the skin, making it a better moisturizer than olive oil

Patchouli oil

This sweet and woodsy-scented oil is also suitable for sensitive skin, is antibacterial and antifungal. Researchers have also found that it can protect against UV radiation. It can also help lessen wrinkles and increase collagen production in the skin, making it a popular choice for anti-aging products. 

Ylang ylang oil

The ylang-ylang is a tropical flower native to Southeast Asian countries. It helps in reducing anxiety and is a known mood booster. Physically, it can lower blood pressure and heart rate. Researchers have studied the flower and its effects and found that it can help prevent pigmentation. Other benefits for the skin include:

Geranium oil

Due to the alkaline contained in it, geranium oil helps with balancing out skin oils. This makes products with geranium oil ideal for people who are prone to acne. Like lavender and patchouli, it's good for sensitive skin and can even help with skin infections, thanks to its antiseptic properties. 

Neroli oil

Neroli oil is also known as orange blossom oil.  Neroli oil is extracted from the flower of bitter orange trees. Aside from being used in perfumes for their rich fragrance, it's also good for the skin. It contains citral that helps balance sebum on skin without drying it out and Neroli is rich in antioxidants.

Ginger oil

It's no surprise that ginger has many health benefits, especially when ingested. Not only does ginger make us healthy on the inside, but also the outside. For example, ginger contains antioxidants to slow down skin aging and prevent inflammation.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is extracted from the fruit of a jojoba plant and is gentle enough that you can use it on its own or use it as a carrier oil for diluting other essential oils. Like the oils above, Jojoba oil is  antibacterial and contains antioxidants. This oil is also hypoallergenic and helps with healing wounds and sebum production.
